Star Wars: Maize Flight’s Revenge, 1983
That’s it! That’s as far as I got before I put this one aside and never went back to it. The general concept was to tell this story in flashback form with Wedge narrating. He and his fellow pilots (later to be known officially as “Rogue Squadron”) did their best to evade Imperial pursuit, taking cover on a planet or space station or somewhere else. There, they would meet a gang of hotshot flyers and win them over in a flying match. They’d all team up to take out their pursuers and go join the rebellion.
Everything you just read is about all I had in mind back then. There were other story ideas that interested me more, so I worked on them instead.
