Latest plastic model info for The Gray Witch revealed!
The appearances of all six new Votoms A.T.s are finally unveiled!
Armored Trooper Votoms: The Gray Witch was announced as the first project commemorating Sunrise’s 50th anniversary. Now, information regarding the plastic models of the A.T.s (Armored Troopers) featured in the story has been released. The newly revealed models belong to MegaHouse’s “VAKIT” series. Though compact, these kits are packed with detail, and might even hold clues to the mysteries surrounding the story itself!
Details on the six featured A.T.s revealed!
“VAKIT” is the abbreviation for “VARIABLE ACTION KIT,” a plastic model series produced by MegaHouse. Within this lineup, “VAKIT PLATOON” is a category dedicated to particularly small-scale kits. The first products in this series are the A.T.s appearing in Armored Trooper Votoms: The Gray Witch. They stand approximately 8cm tall. Despite their small size, they feature articulated parts, and the turret lenses come pre-painted. There are six variations in total, and they will be sold in blind packaging. Whether you want to collect them all or dive deep into customizing them, these are items to look forward to!

Scopedog (Desert Color A)
This A.T. closely resembles the “base” configuration of the Armored Trooper Votoms: The Gray Witch version of the Scopedog. It is equipped with what appears to be a blade antenna on the backpack; given that this is a Votoms title, the fact that the left shoulder is painted red is also a detail that catches the eye. Despite being a small-scale kit, it features more realistic proportions compared to the standard Scopedog and faithfully reproduces the angular form.
A Scopedog equipped with a grenade launcher mounted alongside the rifle barrel. Such configurations are commonly seen on real-world infantry weapons. As the platoon’s sole grenadier, this unit holds a crucial position.
A Scopedog equipped with a deployed pile bunker on its left arm. Votoms was instrumental in popularizing the “pile bunker” concept across various media, so it is only natural for the weapon to appear in this title as well.
The cockpit area is covered in additional armor, suggesting it carries a pilot requiring special protection beyond that of a standard soldier.
A unit that catches the eye with a shape derived from the Diving Beetle series. It appears the squad is not composed solely of Scopedogs. The weapon mounted on its arm is identified as a “Large Launcher.”
With a cockpit that resembles that of a two-seater craft, this unit boasts the most unique shape in the platoon. Note that the cockpit area here is also covered in additional armor.
What is the all-new Oshii-directed Votoms title, The Gray Witch?
Sunrise has been producing robot anime since Invincible Super Man Zambot 3 in 1977 and will mark its 50th anniversary in 2027. Armored Trooper Votoms: The Gray Witch is the project being created to commemorate this milestone year.
Mamoru Oshii, also known as a military enthusiast, serves as director. Mechanical design duties are handled by Shinobu Tsuneki, a veteran with a long career in the field, and Yoshihiro Sono, who worked on the Armored Trooper Votoms: A.T. Stories manga. Furthermore, the music is composed by Kenji Kawai, who has created numerous masterpieces for Oshii’s works.
While the detailed plot remains a mystery, the lineup of staff is incredibly compelling. The project is planned as a two-part theatrical release, with the first installment premiering this November. Stay tuned!
