Judge Dredd Megazine 309-344
Over this 3-year stretch, the Megazine’s cover price went from £5.49 to £5.60 and the features held steady with four regular strips accompanied by creator interviews, various articles, and book/comic/movie reviews. Each issue was bundled with a separate 64-page reprint of 2000AD or Megazine content; usually collected comics, but also some occasional encylopedias. For all that, the asking price was quite fair.
The premiere of DREDD, the second attempt to bring the Judge to the big screen, took place July 2012, but its presence in print was noticeably quieter than the Stallone movie had been. It may have been an attempt to manage expectations the second time around with coverage limited to one issue and two tie-in comics; one prequel and one sequel. Though we would all have liked to see the film do better, this turned out to be the smart approach. The fate of the Megazine was no longer dependent upon other media, so it safely stayed on its own course.
