PC Engine Game
Hudson Soft, 1989
Released shortly before the film, this game was a vertically-scrolling shooter for PC Engine that would later be exported under the name Blazing Lazers in 2007. It was set many years after the movie and included some of the characters, but otherwise didn’t have any strong connections.
The Official Strategy Handbook (above right) was published by Kadokawa on July 1, 1989.

Gunhed: The New Battle
Nintendo, 1990
This game was released the year after the movie for Famicom, the Japanese version of the NES. Unlike the PC Engine Game, it was a direct sequel to the film, a strategy-based scenario in which Kyron 5 is waking up yet again and a Gunhed team must return to Island 8JO.
