Commando Vorct characters and mecha

This 6-member AT unit was specially organized for war hero Lt. Colonel Vorct, who was to return to the front again. From another point of view, the military was on the verge of collapse and prepared a final gesture for a national hero who had contributed so much to the war effort. However, this was not just a stage for a final chapter.

Commando Vorct was deployed to the front and immediately began to achieve astonishing results, despite the overwhelmingly unfavorable war conditions. They sport the emblem of the wolf that once ran through the battlefields, and it heralds the return of a legend.

This elite unit gathers up aces from the entire Hjulos Army. The rank structure of the unit is rather odd; Vorct is a Lieutenant Colonel and the members range from major to captain. But the ATs, with their black coloring and white wolf mark, soon became known not only to Gilgameth but also to Balarant.

The six Commando Vorct AT pilots all have different fighting styles, and naturally, they all use their machines differently. Therefore, each AT has been modified to make the most of his advantages. Each AT pilot has a dedicated mechanic. These modifications are performed mainly by that mechanic.

Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Van Vorct

National hero and excellent commander

An AT super ace who became a living legend at a young age. Not only was he the first Hjulos soldier to score over 100 enemy kills, he also made groundbreaking achievements in the use of ATs, which had not yet been established because they were fairly new in the field of combat.

His brilliant record of war successes created fear in the upper echelons that the death of a national hero would lower morale, so this natural AT pilot was pushed upward into the position of Military Commander. Kept away from the front lines, Vorct was able to use his talents to his fullest in rear area assignments. However, his desire to live and die with the soldiers on the front line was unquenchable. As the war situation worsened, he was demoted to Lieutenant Colonel and returned to the front lines as the leader of “Commando Vorct,” a special unit that brings together the best front-line ace pilots.

Vorct Scopedog

Vorct’s machine has a larger head antenna to enhance its command function. In addition, the legs have been replaced with turbo custom booster units. Its maneuverability is much greater than that of the normal Scopedog.

Major Boris Norden

Another excellent ace commander

Major Norden has been a friend of Vorct’s since they started piloting ATs together. He is also a great contributor to the founding of Commando Vorct and the de facto second-in-command. In contrast to Vorct, who is a genius type of player, Ace is a craftsman who steadily improves his skills. His fighting style is not flashy, but he always kept up a steady pace and was the first in the Hjulos army to score 300 enemy kills.

He does not increase his score explosively, but he never falls into a slump, and as a result, he has the second highest score in the whole army after Zetra. He is also highly regarded as a commander. Norden’s squadron still holds the record for the highest number of battles fought by a single squadron.

Norden Scopedog

Norden’s Scopedog has undergone some basic customization to improve its performance. However, it has not been customized in the same way as the other members. This is due in large part to the way he fights, but also to the principle of “piloting a brand-new machine with as little stress as possible.”

The performance of his AT, which has only been in service for a short time, has been improving year by year with the introduction of new technology. The direct cause for his adherence to this principle is not clear, but he frequently updates his AT and goes to the battlefield. This is made possible by his trust in Chief Banks, his long-time maintenance supervisor, who has been in charge of his AT for many years.

Captain Loote Rane

An asset that doesn’t know fear

Even in the Hjulos Army, which has produced more than 100 AT aces, Captain Rane is the only one who has scored more than 200 enemy kills by the young age of 22. He is nicknamed “Gig” (“flaming car” in Astragius). His fighting style is aggressive and daring. Using his excellent reflexes and eyesight, he always attacks the enemy until the very last moment. He has been hit by enemy bullets once or twice, but he never changes his style. He is a man who does not know fear, but he also has a nervous and sensitive side.

He sometimes increases his score at an explosive rate, but can also fall into a slump. Despite his seemingly fiery face, he has a deep love for music which he keeps hidden from those around him. Before joining the military, he wanted to go to music school.

Rane Scopedog

Captain Rane has a Scopedog with assault specs. In anime, enemy bullets are often shown penetrating the cockpit. In order to prevent this, it has additional armor on its chest. It also has a visor on its head for special equipment used in operations.

AT-09-STA Scopedog Assault

A special turbo custom version of the Scopedog operated by Melkia’s special forces. When Commando Vorct was formed, it initially operated as an experimental unit. Vorct operated the turbo unit supplied by Melkia and collected data. Hjulos used the database to develop a unit suited to the environment of its country and the operation of ATs. After Vorct is wounded, he orders the completed prototype unit was to be installed on Rane’s AT.

The Scopedog Assault has enhanced acceleration, a higher maximum speed, and better manueverability over rough terrain. However, because it is an experimental unit, its handling stability is as difficult as the turbo custom, and it is only suitable for highly skilled AT pilots.

Captain Tokrus Zetra

A lone man with the qualities of a true ace

Even with an extremely advanced AT ballistic computer, Zetra can fire while in motion. In other words, it is extremely difficult to attack an enemy while predicting his future position during high maneuvering. However, there is one pilot who is perfectly capable of maneuvering and shooting. He is Captain Zetra, the AT pilot with the highest score at the moment.

However, this top ace, who accumulates kills one after another with his beloved machine is also a moody person who is extremely unpredictable. When in action, he explosively increases his score with his special return-range maneuvering fire, but once he falls into a slump, he can have zero results for days on end.

He also has a sensitive side. Surprisingly, it is not known that Zetra is also a true ace in that he has never once been hit by enemy fire.

Zetra Scopedog

Zetra is an AT pilot who specializes in long-range sniping and medium-range maneuvering fire. His Scopedog features an enhanced sighting device. The turret lens is equipped with a large scope. Its armament consists of a heavy machine gun and a sniper rifle.

The Zetra Scopedog is equipped with a turret lens and a large scope. The enhanced scope on the head has a wide range of sight magnification and can also be used at close range, but its field of view is narrower. However, Zetra does not let this deter him. He has outperformed most ATs in close-range as well as medium-range combat.

Major Goet Dam Borque

An AT genius

Outstanding reflexes, situational judgment, and overwhelming skills; Borque has all the qualities required of a true AT pilot, and at the highest level. He has an exceptional career, having been involved in AT development as an engineer at Trinity, the military’s central research institute.

Known as a “genius” AT pilot, he can seemingly predict the future position of an enemy and destroy them with a single blow from close range. He has only been piloting an AT for a short time, but has still destroyed 180 enemy machines. His score per number of sorties is higher even than Vorct’s. He is a gentlemanly person, which is rare for an AT pilot.

His qualities, which are said to surpass even Vorct in terms of pure ability, can be seen from his astonishing record of never being hit by enemy bullets in combat. However, even if the pace of his score is higher than Vorct’s, the results of his battles are his alone. The results of his unit were not as great. This may be the limitation of his “genius.”

Borque Scopedog

Borque’s Scopedog is lightly armored for advanced mobility, raising the maximum speed of the roller dash higher than that of the normal Scopedog. More noteworthy is the improvement in overall body maneuvering speed achieved by reinforcing the muscle cylinder. Furthermore, the operation reaction speed has been increased to its utmost limit.

The machine has been tuned to cope with Borque’s superhuman reflex speed. These customizations have made it extremely unstable, and even experienced soldiers cannot easily handle it. However, he has destroyed many enemy machines in many battlefields by controlling this AT as he pleases.

Captain Maltas Bockmesser

Specialist in large vehicle attacks

While being developed as a large anti-armor firearm for ATs, the anti-materiel cannon was sent back to the warehouse after only the first test firing due to its huge recoil, which rattled the frame of the AT that was holding it. However, here was an AT pilot who dug it back out and put it into action: Captain Bockmesser, Hjulos’ best big-game hunter.

A long-range marksman, Bockmesser’s abilities surpass even Zetra’s in some aspects. Piloting a Scopedog equipped with a stabilizing spade for the anti-materiel cannon, Bockmesser has produced phenomenal results with his unique battle method of destroying more than a hundred large vehicles/ships from a long distance, the equivalent score of 300 ATs.

Bockmesser Scopedog

Bockmesser’s anti-materiel cannon is a very high-recoil weapon. Therefore, his machine is equipped with a large spade. When the anti-materiel cannon is fired, it is driven into the ground to hold the AT in place.

It is similar to the normal Scopedog in appearance, except for the spade on the rear and side hip armor. The anti-materiel cannon (AMC) punches through the thick armor of a ship by firing ultra-high velocity armor-piercing rounds. It is used only by Bockmesser in the Hjulos Army.

Scopedog underwater submarine equipment

A Scopedog can be used in all weather conditions, but it normally cannot be used underwater. This special equipment was developed to make that possible. However, the field of vision is limited to the camera mounted on the shield covering the head, and the sealing on the upper part of the head can reduce mobility. It is considered very difficult to engage in combat with this gear. For this reason, it is used only by a very small number of special forces and is not a common piece of equipment.

Underwater scooter

Used by ATs that can operate with underwater submarine equipment. It is capable of towing an AT almost silently. It also has some cargo space and can store an AT’s armaments.

ATH-14-WP Standing Turtle

In addition to Scopedog, Hjulos also has the H-class AT Standing Tortoise and its wetland version, the Standing Turtle. The main mission of the Tortoise/Turtle is to defend and attack bases using their firepower. The 402nd Brigade, a.k.a. the “coast guard unit,” has a large number of Tortoises and Turtles.

Kurt Coppel

Once a full-time mechanic for Vorct, he supported this legendary ace from behind the scenes. He was one of the first to arrive when Vorct established a new unit. He is considered a “god of maintenance” by those in the know. Currently, he is the chief of Commando Vorct’s maintenance team. Despite his seemingly tough exterior, he is a man of deep consideration. He has built up a vast network of contacts to procure parts. His presence within the Hjulos Army is greater even than Vorct or Norden.

Carine Rucca

A mechanic assigned to Commando Vorct at its inception. She is small and looks unreliable at first glance, but in fact she is quite stubborn and hardworking. Zetra and Rane, who were initially dissatisfied with this inexperienced female mechanic, eventually came to sympathize with her honest and sincere work ethic.

Sara May Kanawa

Rane once rescued war orphans stranded behind the front lines in a battle on the southern plains. Kanawa was the one who took the place of their mother and cared for the orphans. She was originally an army nurse, but when she happened to see orphans living by themselves in a town, she immediately retired from the army and started living with them.

She is a typical “straight shooter,” but when she ran out of clothes, she began to wear a nun’s uniform she found in the ruins of a church where she once lived. She has a strong sense of justice due to her childhood memories of being at the mercy of war. She works for an NGO founded to help non-combatants affected by the war. Her selfless and active way of life is a great influence on Rane.

Firess Horn

A female reporter for a news agency based in the Hjulos capital city of Prave. She covered Norden’s company when he was a commander before he became a member of Commando Vorct. She is a good reporter, but a little too conscientious for this kind of work.

Morania side

Commander Stanislav Cesuri

He is the top ace of the Morania army, commander of the crimson Fatty Unit, which is said to be invincible. In this sense, he is a perfect counterpart to Vorct. But his attitude toward his subordinates is in stark contrast, sometimes treating them as expendable. His fighting style is always as cold as ice, and he is known as a ruthless dictator who does not care at all if his unit suffers a devastating blow in order to win the battle.

He has an extraordinary hostility toward Vorct, the only opponent to ever make him suffer. He is willing to sacrifice everything else in order to defeat this legendary AT pilot.

B-ATM-03 Fatty

Yaruda invasion unit specs

Morania’s main AT, supplied by Balarant. It was developed by Balarant to emulate Gilgameth’s Scopedog. In space combat, it demonstrates strength on par with the Scopedog, but on the ground it lags a little behind. Morania, with its superior national power, deployed a large number of these ATs, and strength in numbers made it possible for Morania to overwhelm Hjulos’ army. In the Yaruda invasion, Fatty ATs with special dark green landing paint were used.

B-ATM-03 Fatty

Cesuri unit specs

Cesuri’s Fatty, painted in crimson, has been modified in various ways, and its basic performance has been improved compared to the normal Fatty.

B-ATM-04 Chubby

Cesuri specs

In an effort to equal the Scopedog’s proficiency in ground operations, Balarant developed this variation of the Fatty as a new type of machine. Just before the end of the war, several B-ATM-04 Chubbies were delivered to Morania for testing, following the Ground-use Fatty. One was deployed to Cesuri, where it had already proven itself in operational tests for ground use.
