Judge Dredd, The Megazine Volume 2 (part 1)
After its first 20 issues, The “Meg” made two significant shifts; frequency increased from monthly to fortnightly (bi-weekly) and the numbering started over with issue 1 of “Volume 2.” The price dropped from £1.65 to 99p, and the number of strips went down from five to four, though when you added up the cost of two issues per month the price came to £1.98 with an increase in content to match. The upside of all this was greater visibility in stores.
As for the interior, the series continued to prove its value with longer, more complex stories in addition to off-the-wall experiments. New dimensions were added to Dredd’s world (especially on the international scale), and crossovers were engineered with 2000AD to cross-pollenate the readership. Volume 2 lasted for 83 issues, after which it shifted again to Volume 3 in 1995. Shown here is the first half of Volume 2.
